Exploring the relationship between chronic illness and the social pressure of growing up and fitting in, it’s a contemporary circus production filled with emotion, transparency, and diagnosed comedic relief. Bliss is a multidisciplinary, circus artist, who grew up homeschooled in rural Tennessee, where her picture-of-health mother assured her that she would grow out of her many childhood ailments. Now, in her 20s, as a professional athletic performer, she’s still holding out hope for her panacea growth spurt. Come laugh, cry, and share a human experience. Birthday Party is a fast-pace, contemporary, circus, comedy that showcases the complex relationships humans have to being born, being alive and celebrating those milestones. During this 45 minute production, the artists and the audience will be exploring the history, science, and social culture of birthdays, gift giving, and getting older. With partner-acrobatics, aerial arts and all-original music, it’s a show full of surprises and a few sweet treats. Birthday Party is the event of the year, that all ages won’t want to miss.
